The Plastic Cup - to be or not to be

Friday, 25 July 2008
The plastic cup has attracted considerable press coverage recently and whilst some environmentalists advocate using their own cup others recognise that used responsibly the plastic cup is very eco friendly.

The Save a Cup scheme is the vending industry’s answer to ensuring that the plastic cup get reused. The Scheme collects over 3.5 million cups every week and ensures that they get recycled and re invented into something different such as rulers or coasters and even garden furniture.

Water dispensers can be used with you own cup or glass but then comes the debate as to how eco friendly it is to use your own. By the time you have spent time, energy and cleaning products to wash the cup, the plastic vending cup starts to look very attractive.

The debate will no doubt continue and it remains the customers choice, but if you are thinking of the plastic cup check out that your supplier supports Save a Cup.

Point of Use water coolers buck the trend

Friday, 4 July 2008
According to UK water coolers 2008 report from Zenith International, the water cooler sector achieved continued growth throughout 2007 despite a challenging business environment and the poor summer weather.

The total number of water coolers installed rose by 35% and this was largely down to the rise in popularity of the Point of Use.

People are recognising the need to keep hydrated and the benefits this brings. For companies supplying water coolers the key factor is customer service.

Coinadrink is privately owned and prides itself on offering a professional quality service with no hidden extras. Regular sanitising and filter changes, a dedicated team of backup technicians are all included in the rental prices.

Some water companies offer to provide plumbing – in our experience this usually involves long pieces of hose running from the incoming water point to the machine. Evidence and research confirm that water collects in these hoses allowing the build up of bacteria.

We stick to what we are good at and leave the plumbing to the experts so our customers can enjoy a cup of fresh filtered water every time.
